I don't think we need to worry about getting rid of our politicians.
In a few years they will be surplus to requirements anyway.
We'll still be able to elect MEPs, of course, for what it's worth.
The European Parliament is about as useful as the House of Lords. Neither carry any real power.
The actual power is held by the European Commission, and we shall always do exactly what they dictate to us.
So the advantages, as far as I'm concerned, are:
- we shall not have to listen all that inane carrying-on in the Commons;
- the poison dwarf in the Speaker's chair will be gone for ever;
- we don't need to worry about paying millions for the maintenance of the Houses of Parliament to prevent them falling down; and
- we don't even have to think about which political party to elect next time, because there won't be any more general elections.
Always look on the bright side of life, de-dum, de-dum, de-dumdy-dum...
