Australian bush firesl!

Australia seems to be subjected to recurring large scale bush
fires on an almost annual basis?
Is there an underlying reason for this? And what is it?
The remedy cannot really be found untill the reasons are found?
California is another place that needs solutions on this issue!

Global warming !
There have always been bushfires but now there are more and worse there are more people living in the bush .
I spoke to my son today who is Australian and to make sure he’s not in any danger . He says it’s smokey where he is but as yet not fires but he lives in a forest area so I worry about it.

It only takes some extremely hot weather and parched, dry grass to start a fire. Also a spark or reflection from a piece of metal or glass could ignite the land. It's not just a case of global warming but that could be a contributory factor, as could foul play.

You do well to worry Muddy!
They usually have a network of firebreaks in place, but in large
outbreaks they are generally inadequate and get bypassed with
ease if there is any sort of a breeze about?
As you say more people live in the bush now so more damage
is done than previously!

Re: Australian bush firesl!

Wow it's quite eerie here right now. The strong and hot north westerly winds have been blowing all day and blown a lot of the smoke from the fires further inland towards the coast. The sky has a scary orange glow and the air is thick with the sweet slightly sickly smell of burning eucalypt. When the fire catches hold and is really raging over a large front it can form it's own weather system. THe trees don't burn as such, the oil in them just causes them to explode. But the wind has died down and it's an eerie quiet until around 7 pm. A strong southerly is coming up the coast and will hit Sydney around then and us about an hour later. That will cool things down a bit hopefully but wind is still a problem hot or cold. So for now it's catastrophic level warnings for the Greater Sydney region which accounts for about 6 million people. It's the first time ever at that level. There's also severe fires on the Perth city limits as well. But get this!..It is snowing in parts of Tasmania and Victoria!! This bloody country. I love it but it's a handful.

Yes,cold here with a possibility of hail showers.

Apparently, according to the ABC,yesterday, Monday, was the first day since records started, that there was no rain at all on mainland Australia.

Keep safe up there
