Like you say, you can take protective measures to slow the spread of the disease, giving the maximum number of people a chance to recover.

You (UK) don't count corona deaths outside hospital in the statistics. After the pandamic is over you can count the total number of deaths from outside and inside the hospitals. Ad to that the number of those admitted to hospital care and recovered. Those are the ones that got infected and couldn't cope with the virus by their own immune system. If the protective measures hadn't ensured that the medical system could cope, those would have died too. The death toll would be even higher.
Hi

Yes, our figures are being manipulated to show a lower number of deaths from the virus than are actually happening.

Many ,many more are dying in care homes and are not being tested.

Herd Immunity is a fact of life.

The survival of the fittest, as per Darwin, who by the way, was a Shrewsbury man.

We have had 90 year olds with health conditions who have survived it.

That is genetics for you.

Do you REALLY believe that the vast majority of us went well aware of what is taking place in OUR country?

Or that the plague was brought in mostly by FOREIGNERS?

Sorry swim, darwin didn't use the term fittest in term of strong, but as the ones best able to adept to changing (environmental) conditions.

Any disease will kill off those individuals with the lowest health conditions. That can be the wealthy obese with heart problems and diabetes as well as the undernourished poor living in unhealthy conditions.

What I described is applicable of all countries. It is however typical british vanity to assume it was about them.

By the plague you mean the several types of disease the british as foreigners brought to their colonies?

If for you civilisation equals mass consumption, yes, that too. Like pox, measles, gonorhea, syphilis, alcoholism, drugs....

There is no magic bullet to this.

You can protect yourself by being sensible, but we will all die.

Consumerism gives the primative tribes something to aspire to as well as providing a market for cash crops to get the means to buy what they see that they want. Diseases? They come with the territory if they're too dim to catch on with what has to be done in order to survive. Look on it as part of the process of evolution.
