Didn't you ever ever have anything go wrong in usage after it was put out there? That's a good claim and I wish I could have said it during my working years.

I'm 'old school' too. Maybe we all are or we wouldn't be here.

In my day, I'd repair a TV or video recorder and run that thing for hours and hours, often days, in the workshop before it was returned to the customer. Once in a while though, no matter how long it was tested and then returned, there'd be a phone call a day or two later saying there was a fault. Just goes to show that even when an item is extensively tried under test conditions, it sometimes isn't the same as putting it out there.

Maybe there's a similarity here.

Re: Windows 10 - February 11, 2020 - KB4532693

https://mspoweruser.com/windows-10-k...ood-news-soon/

Windows 10 users are now facing fresh troubles after installing Windows 10 KB4532693 update. Some users are reporting that the latest Patch Tuesday update deleted their personal files on the Desktop and what is even more concerning is that there is no way to bring all those deleted personal files back.

There is more. The KB4532693 update is also causing boot failures when users are trying to install the update. Some users are reporting that they are not being able to install the update as it gives a blue screen of death and boot failure. This issue, however, can be avoided just by uninstalling the update.

The good news is these issues are not going to cause troubles for a long period of time as Microsoft has started to investigate Windows 10 KB4532693 update issues and you know what that means. Microsoft will either deliver a new update or it will give us a step by step guide to fix these issues. Whatever the case may be, if you’re one of the users who didn’t install the latest cumulative update and now thinking of installing it on your PC, you should wait until Microsoft finds a solution to fix these bugs.
I AM waiting …..

Haven't had any problems personally but I also don't keep personal files on the desktop. I keep them in the libraries where they should be and back them up every day.

How so?

My only objection to them is that they don't have an environmental variable (though that is easily rectified) however the concept makes a lot of sense to me. They are universal over every Windows machine so that once you have settled on a directory structure utilising them it can be transferred from machine to machine.

Now that you understand what a machine is I am still interested to hear why you find the Windows library folder system so complex.

Ah, now I understand why you find the Windows library system is too complicated. Never mind.
