There are now a total of:

- 37 cases in Lombardy region (including 1 death, 1 critical, and at least 14 serious cases).
- 10 in Veneto region (including 1 death and at least 1 critical case).
- 3 in Rome (including 2 recoveries).

20+ new cases today in Italy, including:
- 2 doctors, husband and wife (a pediatrician), in Pieve Porto Morone (Pavia, Lombardy).
- 5 new cases in Vò Euganeo (Padua, Veneto region).
- 1 in Cremona (Lombardy region).
- 1 in Sesto Cremonese (Lombardy region).
- 2 in Dolo and Mira (Veneto region).

1 new death in Italy, a 75-year-old woman who was hospitalized a few days ago for pneumonia in the Lodi area (Lombardy region).

The 38-year-old man near Lodi is in critical condition (mechanically ventilated in intensive care, according to his parents) and at least 14 contacts are in serious condition, according to doctors, and include:
- 5 health workers and doctors.
- 3 patients at the Codogno hospital.

It's now 55 cases - I suspect there will be more due to the number of contacts .....

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

Further to my earlier post about the incubation period for Covid 19 being longer than first thought. More information has been forthcoming.

Efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus have been dealt a blow, with new data suggesting the incubation period could be much longer than presumed.

A 70-year-old man in China's Hubei Province was infected with coronavirus but did not show symptoms until 27 days later, the local government said on Saturday, meaning the virus' incubation period could be much longer than the presumed 14 days.

The development could complicate efforts to deal with the virus which has killed over 2,300 people in China and is now spreading in South Korea.

The man, only identified by his family name, Jiang, drove his car back on January 24 to Shennongjia, in northwestern Hubei, from eastern Ezhou, where he had close contact with his sister, who had been infected, according to the government website of Hubei, the virus epicentre.

With 79 total cases and 2 deaths, Italy now has - by far - the highest number of cases and deaths in Europe, accounting for over 60% of all European cases, and becoming the country with most cases among all western (non Asian) nations.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

The latest (supplied) statistics for China show no sign of waning:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

China 76,925 Total Cases 637 New Cases 2,441 Total Deaths 96 New Deaths
These figures will probably change overnight.

Additionally:

Iran 29 Total Cases 11 New Cases 6 Total Deaths 2 New Deaths
Iraq now has 1 Case

"slowing globally" .....

Well, not in China, South Korea, Italy, Japan and Iran - I hope that Mr Hunt's medical authorities have been keeping up-to-date with the rest of the world.
