Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

We are getting a bit silly on this thread.
Let us return to something valuable to read.
After all, that is what I liked about this thread.

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

And now for something completely different.

One of your threads made me think about the word “Unique’’ Spitty. It strikes me that being unique and having a unique life is very common seeing that everyone of us is different.
When you think about it every grain of sand is unique as is every snowflake, everything in fact is unique, no two things are exactly the same, so anyone or anything that is NOT unique is TRULY unique.
A very learned man once told me that two absolutely identical objects cannot fit into the same space anywhere in the universe, there always has to be a difference no matter how tiny or insignificant it is in order to exist.

Anyone know what the opposite to unique is? If it is ‘commonplace’ then there is nothing more commonplace than uniqueness.

Some old folks have no time for the younger generation, they say they haven't a clue about how the world works, no experience, no manners, always wanting their own way, etc. etc.

"I gotta bigger and shinier missile that you have and I'm gonna shine it up yo ass"
Two young lads playing in the school yard?
No, two mature world leaders being diplomatic, frightening isn't it.

With the likes of that running the show I'll be glad to get off this bus when it comes to my stop.

No one respected the Grade 2 listing, like all relics, the stench will define it.

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

I did indeed have a bet on Sweetie, any horse can win that race so it’s all luck really, and it’s a very exciting race to watch too. The whole family usually have a flutter, I invested 2 quid each way on “Bless the wings” for the simple reason the wife and her sisters were talking about bingo wings in the pub last night, it finished third @40/i and I got 22 quid back, sometimes it pays to listen in on these old biddies.
Although we deal in euro’s over here as you well know, we still call the unit a quid same as the old days, even the youngsters say quid.

The defection seems to be complete, de facto.

Well done Jem. Yes, a quid will always be a quid, and a pound of flesh a pound.
