The EU has two options..

1. Protect the EU Project
2. Protect the 27

Be prepared to get thrown under a bus by Barnier and co. They will not give up power to save the economies in the 27. The EU is an ideology and only has one objective so if I were you I would be very worried about becoming collateral damage. Countries like yours and Spain and Ireland etc will get the blame. Screwing the people in the 27 is much, much more to the advantage of your elite to get more control and power over you than any trade deal with the UK.
Screwing Gibraltar is much much more to the advantage of the elite than helping the people living there.

It's not in the EU.

It's my belief that trade negotiations with the European Commission should be recognised as a lost cause and instead address ongoing relationships between the two governments, the EC and the UK in terms of going forward with such things as reciprocal health care (if any), validity of driving permits, and the minutiae of the factors that are important when a border is established.

Exactly, SG.

There may be little or no conflict, at the moment, but, should there be any, in the future, Gibraltar would give our RN huge power over the med and the access to Suez.

Put a couple, or three, Submarines in Gibraltar and no enemy will be getting past with oil, or other supplies!

True.

We'd be much better off ignoring the EU and putting all our effort into arranging trade agreements with the rest of the world. We can also stop making payments now and use the money for something more useful.

Any such achievements will, in themselves, prompt the EU into asking us for a trade agreement!

Well, obviously, you and your kind are not in government.
