Of course, the EU held all the cards. They negotiated a deal on future cooperation because article 50 instructs the EU to do so. Whether negotiations result in a deal is up to the leaving member.

If it was that good for them they would have signed it.

Seems that you are right 7779311 !!
Sassoli has said they will ratify on April. 26 th, and there will be no
further extensions to this date ??
So it seems EU WILL ratify and Boris or EU will NOT be able to extend
again??
So unfortunately for us, it seems we are still stuck with Boris's
shyte deal ??
I was hoping for it all to fall apart due to a default??

It may still fall apart donks. That is why the EU wants to see the UK honouring the previous deal they signed (the withdrawal agreement, which included the NI protocol). The UK even threatened to break that deal (in a limited and specific way).

They don't trust the british anymore. Ample evidence for that mistrust.

I am not sure about the details here. Someone wrote that another extension is impossible due to WTO rules, but I really can not tell if that is true.

What do you think about this idea: a new referendum to decide to ratify the TCA or not?

I would say its very much the other way around based on recent events. Who would have thought the EU would steal other countries vaccines ? Well, with the incompetence of the ex German defence minister in charge of procurement, just about everyone.

Have you read Zaphod's link to a Spectator article in another thread Solly? It seems to me that you're arse about face again and other countries consider the UK as far more trustworthy than your beloved EU.
