Re: Coronavirus: Third wave will 'wash up on our shores', warns Johnson

Dear Boris,

Please stop playing games. It doesn't take a genius to work out that the "rough winter for all sorts of reasons" correlates to "ending all remaining legal restrictions 19 July" May I remind you that Scotland isn't ending theirs until August 9th. Mainly to do with surges in cases round your area. Comb your hair and put your thinking cap on.

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

A further 16,135 confirmed cases in the UK were announced by the government on Wednesday.

That figure takes us back to February 4th .....

The current average infection rate is (officially) 10,000 new cases a day - 300,000 a month .....

Wow! That’s a leap into fantasyland..I thought it was the Chinese

The UK's vaccination rollout has saved more than 14,000 lives, and prevented 44,500 hospital admissions in England alone, including 2,500 in the past two weeks, according to vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi.

Blimey! Has Nadhim got a crystal ball?
He should be doing the weather with such accurate predictions.....

British Grand Prix: Silverstone to have capacity crowd for July for the 1 8 July

The track can hold about 140,000 spectators, which will make it the largest crowd for a sporting event in the UK since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

All adults attending will have to be fully vaccinated or be in possession of a negative test for Covid. The rules for children have not yet been revealed.

Lewis Hamilton said he was excited about the news but worried about the rise in Covid-19 cases in the UK.

"The selfish side of me wants to see all these people here," he said. "I like to err on the side of caution and slowly build up, rather than go full pelt and using our British fans as a test."
I'm with Lewis on this one - letting Cheltenham Races go ahead of lockdown last year (250,000 people attended) was a major blunder and an accelerant for the spread of COVID-19. Hopefully, owing to vaccinations and tests, the risks at Silverstone will be nowhere near as great .....

This news comes on the same day that a report* estimated that more than 2,000,000 people in England may have suffered, and may continue to suffer, the debilitating effects of "long covid" .....

Hi

We do not have many deaths, but cases are increasing very rapidly and hospital admissions are also increasing.

Boris may be talking about relaxations on travel, but other Countries may not be so welcoming.

Yes, It might not always mean death these days, but infections need hospital treatment, and if hospitals are full with covid patients, we are back to square one with regard to keeping other illnesses on the back burner. Terrible situation all round.

Agreed ..... the country is on a knife-edge at the moment .....

On the one side, economic collapse; on the other, NHS collapse ..... all because people are "off sick" .....

Let's hope the numbers come down soon .....
