Charity Bags

We've just had the third one this week put through the door

Are charity collectors in danger of 'killing the golden goose', should they try to co-ordinate more, should they move away a bit from 'junk shops' and maybe look at specialist shops (like the Oxfam bookshops), or should we just go with the flow - donate if we have anything and ignore if not?

Re: Charity Bags

Come to think of it we haven't had any charity bags through the letterbox for ages. When I have something I no longer need I tend to bag it up and take it to my local Hospice Charity Shop.

Re: Charity Bags

We had 4 bags last week through the door I don't give to them as we have a lot of rogue collectors around here and they say the stuff doesn't get to whom it's supposed to... We have a large recycling depot near us and I take them there they go to Oxfam....

Re: Charity Bags

Not had any bags this week - last week had 2/3. Never use the bags and we have had warnings about bogus collectors as well. If I have anything to give I take them to the Charity shops in town.

Re: Charity Bags

theres been a spate of charity bags coming through the door. some ive never heard of at all.and when some one does put bags out, the eastern Europeans come along n steal them. so my stuff either goes to the PDSA shop. or british heart foundation shop.

Re: Charity Bags

Baz and I have lost a fair bit of weight, and the consequences are that we have loads of stuff for charity. My local British Heart Foundation shop comes and collects and have been given 12 bags so far, containing clothes some of which I hadn't even worn.

The only thing stopping me from weeping is the fact that it is for charity!

Re: Charity Bags

They go straight in the bin here. Most are bogus charities anyway.
