Re: Christmas & Boxing Day snacks.

Now I rarely eat meat I do miss the cold leftovers to be nibbled from the fridge, cold stuffing apple sauce pork and crackling yum .

I do like a plate of 'bits and pieces' at any time, apple/celery/grapes/cheeses/pickled onion /crackers always goes down well.

We have our main dinner at lunch time, so Boxing Day in the evening we will have Indian & Chinese Savouries and perhaps Sausage rolls.

I, like some here, can no longer eat a big meal as well. I hate gravy all over my food, just on the meat. I have got so fussy in my old age. I much prefer to eat savory snacks & I love to pick at snack food.

I think the leftovers are the best. When my grandparents were alive and came to stay for a week or so, we always had so much food and it went on and on.

Re: Christmas & Boxing Day snacks.

Boxing day here is "snack day" We don't do any big meals. We just put out the finger food and invite some neighbours or friends in to watch the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race and the boxing Day test which is usually held in Melbourne. It's still a bit too smoky down in the city to watch the race in person..or is that "in yacht"??

Err - No. I still have what my grandma would describe as 'a healthy appetite' !

I wish the fashion would come back with everything served in separate dishes where one can help themselves.
Still happens in my home. I loathe the habit of food arriving at the table already 'plated up' - would never do that myself, it borders on bad manners in my opinion.

I suppose it would save on the washing up though.

Bubble & squeak today. I threw the whole lot in; roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, chestnuts, stuffing balls, pups in blankets and cauliflower.

Anyone upwind of Devon should take cover.
