RIP Sabine Schmitz

Taken by cancer, after a 3-4 year battle, aged 51.

Racing driver, and Top Gear presenter, and tried to beat Jeremy Clarkson round the Nurburgring in a van.

I just saw that on the news, terribly sad! Not that I'm into Top Gear or racing, but I admire her being a women in this field. It isn't common.

I don't know of her, not being a fan of Top Gear but just sad that she died so young.

I'm glad someone started a thread about this - Sabine was not only a great driver, but a great character too. I'll always remember when she poured scorn on Jeremy Clarkson's lap time at the Nürburgring and commented that she could do it faster in a van. Gauntlet thrown down, she went ahead and proved it in a Ford Transit. One of the best features on Top Gear. A pity they didn't make her a permanent member of the team.
