What is going wrong with some police lately?

"A probationary police officer who assaulted a woman in a "terrifying" attack has been given a curfew, prompting criticism he was not jailed."

"West Midlands Police PC Oliver Banfield grabbed and manhandled Emma Homer last July while drunk. He has been suspended and faces disciplinary action."

My understanding is that they have recruited a lot of new police officers over a short period of time. That may be the problem.

England and Wales employ around 150,000 police officers. Statistically, it's surprising that there aren't more (reported) cases of misdeameanours.

Apparently, it's not unusual to conceal drugs, etc., in strange places.


Finding those drugs might lead to complaints, from the suspect?

A useful defence?

The Police are human beings like all of us and you will get good and bad ones as with the rest of the population and it has always been so.

The 'bad' usually get weeded out in time because they reflect unfavourably on the whole force.
I would think most policeman think very carefully about their behaviour, the last thing they want to do is end up in prison where the other inmates will make sure their life is made a misery.

18 months ago in this area a local policeman killed his lover , she sent a message to his wife saying they were having an affair and there was a fight apparently he strangled her, he was well liked by friends and had two children , so tragic , he lost it as did she emotions took over and moments of madness and ended both lifes and their families destroyed . He got 7 years but last night on the local news it said 3 more years have been added .

Awful awful one would think as a serving officer common sense would have kicked in but I guess humans do bad things and lose absolute control.

Was that the one near Hurn Susan m? If so it needed to be increased

I don't think they have got worse lately just that with the Internet and people able to video incidents on their phones we just get to hear about more.
Previously it was much easier to keep things hidden.
