It's a matter of perception - the way I see it:

BJ has spent £342,000,000,000 (most of it wasted or passed on to cronies) of the public purse on a disastrous (and, in parts, unlawful) anti-Covid policy and "borrowed" at least £100,000 plus a holiday and a chopper (none of which were fully declared) from cronies to fund a private lifestyle which Carrie wants and he can't afford. With regard to both the public purse and his private "income", he's procrastinated, obfuscated and prevaricated .....

While BJ might not, necessarily, be corrupt, he plays fast and loose with rules and other people's money .....

Needs must when the devil drives and Covid certainly was and still is the devil. Faced with the inevitable delays if normal routes via civil servants in this country his governments action saved many many thousand lives.

The somewhat obvious counterpoint question relates to how many lives his government's actions actually cost.

Indeed, but then the question arises about the actual NHS resources that would have still been blocked on top of the projected covid death toll.

True. But then there's the question about the amount of NHS resources that might not have been needed either at all, or so quickly if the gov had acted differently. The latter point is directly relevant in terms of awarding contracts on the nod to mates, which might not have been necessary.

The whole thing has been and continues to be a nightmare.

Agreed. There have been plenty of right decisions and plenty of wrong ones, which is why it seems futile to take sides.

Think our little circuitous exchange kinda demonstrates that.

Spot on, this old bod is far from being a Boris fan but there are worse places to live than the UK during this crisis - or ever.

Re: Boris Again.

Keep an eye on the batley and spen bye-election.

That should answer a few questions as to Boris Johnson's popularity. Remember Hartlepool ?
