A couple of Haiku.

I know traditionally Haiku are supposed to be about nature - but the first one just fell into my head and wine does come from grapes - which are part of nature - aren't they?

Wine

Soft kiss of red wine,
ruby glow catching the light.
Intoxicating.

Seaside

Clean winds, far mastheads,
and the cry of Gulls in flight.
Summer by the sea.

Lovely Tabs. Do they fit the rules for a Haiku? I have no idea of course.

Yes, Dongles, they do. I like the discipline of Haiku.

Traditionally they are supposed to be about nature - but people seem to ignore that these days. The main rule is about the number of syllables :-

5 in the first line
7 in the second one
And 5 in the third

Very good Tabs.
I particularly like the sea one.

I never really knew the rules before, so that's interesting.

They're lovely Tabby! I knew the 5-7-5 rhythm of Haiku, but had never realised they were traditionally about nature. I might have to have a go...

Re: A couple of Haiku.

Well done Tabs. It's a long time since I had a go at Haiku.

I'll tell you this; it's harder than rhyming couplets.

One of the chaps at work used to do it and several of us had a go whilst we were chained to the control desk for ten or twelve hours. You would read the handover notes at the front of the log book, then find scribblings and end results in the back, added to on a daily basis.

It made a change from solving crossword clues over the headsets.
