Re: Hostas.

Those look good, Pauline, really healthy and well established. The first one is unusual - not seen one with that bluish leaf before.

How do you keep them slug free?

Re: Hostas.

These look lovely, Pauline. I too would be interested in how to deter slugs.

Same here, they start off lovely then the slugs come out to eat. There seems to be more than ever this year too. The gravel doesn't seem to stop them and I don't fancy using pellets.

Re: Hostas.

Thanks everyone, I can assure you that they have started chomping on them, it won’t be long before they start on the others.

Look at these up close.

Re: Hostas.

I have been known to go out with a torch, around 2 am, remove them from the leaves,( slugs and snails) put them in a bucket, then put them over in the field right next to me.

Re: Hostas.

I have learnt over the years to only grow my Hostas in large containers which I keep raised up off the ground. Splitting them was difficult until I realised I needed to grow them in pots that were more narrow at the bottom than the top.
