I had a pair of great tits nesting in my bird box this year. The parents were kept busy feeding the chicks for a couple of weeks.
On Monday I managed to catch a parent bird feeding one of the chicks. Yesterday it was very quiet and there was no activity so I guess they've left.
Technical details if anyone is interested.
Camera: Nikon D7100 with Solmeta remote control on Giotto tripod
Lens: Sigma 18-250 mm F3.5 on full zoom
ASA, shutter speed and aperture: 800 ASA, 1/800 second at f13
Only 1 of our 3 bird boxes has been occupied this year but Mrs Blue Tit has had 2 clutches of eggs. Only 3 from the 2nd clutch of 4 eggs actually hatched and the littlies are just about ready to fly the nest. Mr and Mrs Blue Tit have been flying their little wings off over the last few days on food flights for their babies and giving our suet/insect feeder a hammering to keep their strength up.
