Does anyone take in too much Lard, and if anyone does, is it detrimental to their health.

Re: Lard

Any fatty food is bad for ones health, be it cheese -butter - milk etc. I have to be careful of my fat intake after my Gall bladder removal and the affect it had on my pancreas

Oh try Lecithin Realspead.
I was meant to have mine removed after a bad infection. No problems since taking Lecithin.

Lard, I believe, is saturated fat, which is the relatively bad sort of fat. We do need a small amount of saturated fat in our diet, which can be got from eating meat, butter, etc., but it is probably better not to use saturated fat too much in things like frying, etc.

Shame it make things so tasty.

Chips cooked in lard when I was a child were so much tastier than chips cooked in oli, as were roast potatoes done round the joint.

Nowadays, the only lard I'm aware of is the stuff under my skin.

Still laughing about longdogs lardy grandad
That was Primus' grandad. My grandad had a similar problem but instead of spreading Lard on his back, we used a spread made form a blend of palm oil and soybean oil.

When we took him to the hospital, the doctor said 'I can't believe he's not better.'
