Black Friday

Mark today's date in your diaries. It is, to paraphrase President Roosevelt's response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941, a date that will live in infamy.

Today should have been the day to free the UK from the shackles of the EU but instead, the self-serving British Parliament decided to ride rough-shod over the wishes of the majority of the British people who voted to leave the EU in the referendum by ignoring that mandate to leave and following their own agendas for their own benefit or for, in the case of the Labour party, for political reasons using `Brexit` as a means of destabilising the government so they can force a general election and get into number 10 despite the fact that millions of Labour voters outside the London bubble voted to leave.

Never, in the history of British Democracy have so many been betrayed by so few.

The UK made just one mistake. After voting to leave, they realised being in the EU has advantages. And the UK wanted to retain these benefits after leaving.
This cherry picking was denied. Benefits for members only. And then the panic set in.

Re: Black Friday

The EU have called an emergency meeting on 10th April, just 2 days before we leave at moment. Apparently, all the EU countries are really worried about the withdrawal agreement being turned down.

I wonder if Macron is all mouth and no trousers and vetoes Theresa May having to ask for a long extension, and what will be his price for not doing so?.

I also wonder whether Italy and/or Poland will keep their word and back Nigel Farage by vetoing any further extension?

Poland hate Tusk anyway. They wouldn't vote for him as president in the election ... quite a thing to do when you consider he was Polands Prime Minister.

Re: Black Friday

Moan . . . moan . . . moan . .

It's started already.

Look on the bright side. At least the failure of the Brexit gimmick will give you something to moan and whinge about.

I can hear it already - "Democratic will of the British people . . . . 17.4 million . . . betrayal . . . stitch-up . . . betrayal . . . metropolitan elite . . . . treacherous politicians . . . moan, moan, blah, blah . . . . "

Welcome to life in a parliamentary democracy, where elected representatives are just that - representatives, not delegates.

Get over it.

Verhofstadt was very popular as pm in belgium. Nevertheless they didn't vote for him. You have any idea why not?

Indeed. The northern half, flanders, could join the netherlands. Wallonië will feel at home within france. As soon as the EU trades in sovereign countries for regions, we will move for that.

Neither is the "United Kingdom".

It's four.

And it's not "united. It should be called the "Divided Kingdom"!
