What's the betting there's a fourth vote on her wretched deal?
According to the Beeb's news website she's already considering it. Has she got OCD or summat?

Re: What Next?

The Indicative vote which is to returned to Parliament for discussion tomorrow is a pointless exercise and will perpetuate the problem of Parliament having a majority of remain voting MPs.
They will all vote for the nearest thing to the EU, a Customs Union which is practically remaining in the EU.

It's laughable the EU have said they can't open the Withdrawal agreement to remove the backstop yet what's the betting they would do so to accommodate a Customs Union and they said as much as last week.

Re: What Next?

We keep hearing about TMs 'deal' But what is this 'deal' that we should accept? Can anyone tell me what is in it that both remainers and leavers would be happy to accept. A 'deal' that will free us of the shackles of Brussels is the deal I would be happy with.

The difference is the intention of removing a red line by the UK. The EU has constantly stated that if the UK shift their red lines, a different deal is possible. The red line, no hard border, necessitates the backstop.

Exactly who wants a hard border and wants to pay to build it ? from what I have listened to and read no one wants it. So why is it being used as a thrashing stick ?

The UK is intertwined with the EU on more levels then imaginable. To extricate the UK in a orderly fashion takes almost 600 pages to describe.
You can compare it with removing a hand (UK) from a body (EU). If you amputate it, you can tie nerves, tendons, blood vessels, and minimize damage. You can hack the hand off (no deal) causing massive damage.
This analogy shows who benefits from the deal, namely the EU. For the hand it doesn't matter. That cannot function separated from the body, irrespective whether it is amputated or hacked off. The body EU benefits because it gets the possibility to minimize damage, and recuperate. Even if the hand is hacked off, the body can compensate for blood loss (economic damage) because the body can produce new blood, whereas the hand cannot.

Because it is the law. The EU has borders with all countries that are not members. That is enshrined in the EU law. So, the moment the UK ceases to be a member, the border is automatically instated by law.
Nothing to do with thrashing stick, just misunderstanding international law.
