Besides, it should never have occurred, especially a reputable company like Marks and Spencer.

I agree with this post!.

Re: If you found a piece of glass in your soup...

We found a piece of what looked like a dirty piece of sponge in our delivered pizza,..I took it to the council, food and safety officer visited me,showed him what was in it,..he then made a visit to the take away, obviously did his investigation,it turned out to come from the bag they deliver the pizza in,..they just got a warning I believe,..I have never been there since, fancy not cleaning out the bags properly,or even at all, come to mention it!..Yuck!.

Although not the fault of M&S, it is essential that they advise the manufacturer as it might be some kind of machine fault.

Should have taken a photo if your phone can do so, then retained the contaminant and advised the manageress what had taken place. Immediately thereafter contacted the local council or food standards agency, contacted a lawyer, and investigated possibility of making a claim.

When in doubt - sue.

Re: If you found a piece of glass in your soup...

Ruthio, Many years ago I bought a bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk and when unwrapped, found it white with mold, even though it was well within the date. I wrote to their Head Office and about two weeks later I received a huge box of every assortment of Cadbury's chocolate bars and a letter of apology.

I very much doubt they would do the same nowadays.
