The early 1960s, that was my era for motorcycles (1962-1965) and I can remember a lot of it too. Rockers were clad in black leathers usually riding big, powerful motorcycles. The group I was part of frequented the Busy Bee café on the Watford Bypass and the Ace café on the North Circular.Mods rode Lambretta or Vespa scooters with chromed side panels and dozens of lights on the front. Mods were usually 'booted and suited', often with green anoraks over those clothes.

'Lambretta' always reminds me of a joke I was told in the 60s.Can't remember it properly, but it vaguely goes like this:
Chap picks up a girl and asks her if she wants to go back to his place
'Oh I can't' she said, 'I'm on my menstrual cycle!'
'You can follow me, I'm on my Lambretta'
