Budget 2015

Not a bad budget overall...

A small increase in personal allowance.
A small rise in higher rate tax threshold
First £1000 of savings interest tax free
no increase in fuel duty
small drop in alcohol duty
more flexibility in ISA rules..

Beats a poke in the eye with a pointed stick - just.

That's because there's an election due.
Otherwise there would have been the usual increases.

Re: Budget 2015

sadly took little on board due to the ranting style of his delivery and the barracking from the MP`s, will wait for cooler heads to strip it down and discuss it further.

Gut feeling i will be worse off, i do wonder why we allow a budget just weeks before an election.

Experience of many, many budgets tells me that, as always, the devil will be in the detail.

Nothing they can do will help us at the moment with council tax up, service charges up, rent up and wages going down again

Re: Budget 2015

Of course it's a bit of an election bribe which amounts to very little, but I've also seen worse. The tax exemption in the first £1000 of savings interest is long overdue, even if it's only worth a max of £200 a year - pity they didn't bring it in years ago.. Tax exemption on pension income would have been nice.

Re: Budget 2015

The change to the ISA too is ok too. We often take money out of our ISA and then carry on putting money back in, so the fact that all will get interest is good.

Incidentally our council tax has not gone up again this year. Well I tell a lie, it actually went up just over £1 for the whole year, so apart from the first month, our monthly payments will be the same, and I must say I have not noticed any change in what the council provides for us anyway.

Re: Budget 2015

We have our budget in October. Nice to hear your chap say all your worries are over "Britain is walking tall again" according to him, I hope it's true, we have a fair bit to go here before our man says that, good luck to you all over there.
