$100 Giveaway

Today is NSW Budget Day and for the first time for years the budget won't report a surplus.

The NSW Government is gifting every adult $100 to spend on dining and entertainment in a bid to resuscitate some of the sectors hit hardest by COVID-19. The $100 will comprise four $25 vouchers via the Service NSW App.

The stimulus measure will be announced today in a landmark NSW Budget expected to lay bare tens of billions of dollars in debt.

The Out and About voucher scheme will cost the Government $500 million and aims to keep the economy flowing after Christmas.

The Federal Government is telling the states that they will have to start doing the heavy lifting to get the economy working again.

It is rumoured that the NSW Treasurer is planning to get back to a surplus in the next 5 years.

A meal anyone? Another reason to download the app.

It certainly is and in December we pensioners get a $500 stimulus payment from the federal government. That is a total of $2000 this year, it won't last though.

Just make the most of it while you can. It sounds like the British government are about to start operation clawback.

Re: $100 Giveaway

New South Wales is forecast to record an historic $16bn budget deficit this financial year while the state’s treasurer, Dominic Perrottet, embarks on what he has called “big and bold” tax reform that will see stamp duty phased out in place of an annual land tax.

Perrottet delivered his budget speech in parliament a little while ago, unveiling some eye-watering numbers on the back of the Covid-19 pandemic. At the height of NSW restrictions, Perrottet said, the cost to the state’s economy was estimated to be $1.4bn every week.
