Re: 1p a day = over £600 in a year!

The 1p challenge is far too complicated for my brain. The £1 challenge is dead easy.

Gosh! vets bills and insurance take the most out of our budget. It needs another thread, haha! Wish I could just stash the cash, but I know I wouldn't, and it would go towards more immediate things if the dog didn't need treatment.

Any way of saving that works and does not impact on daily living is excellent however you do it.

Re: 1p a day = over £600 in a year!

Many many years ago, when I was single and out and about every day at work, or trawling shops at the weekend, I got into the habit of throwing any change I received at the till into my bag, rather than put it back in my purse. (Unless of course the purchase was only a very small portion of the banknote I'd proffered). So, if I bought something for 75p and got change from a £1 note (yes, it was that long ago ) then the 25p went in the bottom of my bag. If I spent £3.75, the change from my fiver went in the bag. You get the picture.
Once a month (usually just before pay day ) I'd turn my bag out and find I had not only enough to see me through the rest of the month, but some to put aside as well. Heavens, when I think about it, it was probably only a few pounds, but those few pounds were riches indeed back in the 70s!

I tend to drop my small change into charity boxes. I keep my 50ps and £1 coins the rest goes in the box

Great idea. Going to do similar. Need to get another of those tins you can't open. Mine will probably just be change most days, but similar principle, with the odd note here and there.
