Quilts

Here are a couple of small quilts that hang on the wall. This one measures 33" x 22" and was made from a pattern. The material was chosen and bought separately. Cut out and sewn by hand.

The material for this one was bought at a quilt exhibition and then just made to fit the design Mrs. mart pictured. It measures 27" x 27". All hand stitched.

Re: Quilts

Those are fantastic, Mart. Go and give Mrs Mart a big hug and tell her she is a very talented person - and must have the patience of a saint!

I will Tabbs. I'm sure that being a fellow crafter, you would get on well together.

Years ago, Mrs mart was a volunteer at a disability centre. She taught crafts to people who said they couldn't do anything since becoming disabled. Many of them ended up making items they never thought they could. I think that's where she got all this diversity in crafts from.

She also got good at crafts because she had a lot of time to fill since the road accident in 1991. She has had the time to spend on crafts from early life to the present day that others don't get.

When her time at the centre ended, the other helpers would come here and they'd all sit down and make craft items together. That had to finish when Covid broke out. Not sure if that will start again.

Re: Quilts

Thanks from Mrs. mart. She has made some bed-size quilts too. I'll see about photographing them.

Re: Quilts

I love those Mart particularly the second one
I used to work with a lady who had an exquisite patchwork quilt. Her mother was from the USA and taught prisoners , apparently they made it for her.
