Police officers injured and 20 arrests in Rangers crowd trouble

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotla...-west-57133503

Glasgow remains in level 3 of Covid lockdown restrictions, with large gatherings outdoors not permitted.

Thousands of fans had taken to the streets after Rangers' first Scottish Premiership title win in a decade. They marched from Ibrox Stadium to George Square on Saturday where flares were set off and missiles thrown.

There had been a high, visible police presence throughout the day as huge crowds gathered outside Ibrox before the final game of the season against Aberdeen.

Property was damaged, several people assaulted and missiles and flares were thrown at officers. Police intervened to disperse the crowds due to "rising disorder". Officers formed a line and cleared the group from the area just after 21:00, with Police Scotland describing the fans' behaviour as "disgraceful".
The aftermath:

Hi

They are obviously immune from Covid.

There should be some way of making the club pay for the clean up costs.

Yikes. I understand celebration, but there is a lot of irony in celebrating civic pride and leaving your town looking like the latter photo.

Ban the club from the football league for a couple of seasons. If the club can't control their so called "fans" then they should be responsible and suffer the consequences

Agreed 100% with what you've all said. I reckon Glasgow City Council should send out their street cleaners to clean up the mess, then charge Rangers the FULL cost (including admin fees).

Police Scotland should also be looking at CCTV footage to try and identify anyone in the crowd - not for fining or anything like that for the litter but for going against Covid rules and regs.

Agreed but not with an outright ban. I would suggest it would hurt the club more if the Scottish FA were to dock 12 or 15 points at the start of next season. In other words, Rangers start the 2021/22 season on -12 or -15 points.

Slightly different behaviour, nonetheless appalling, but an outcome re: cost that ought to be applied to all 'no-goods', those who in so many ways are ruining this country. See link below:

If one place manages to do this then why not the UK?

"A drink-driver who crashed his girlfriend's car into a river has been order to pay £5,000 in compensation to the Isle of Man Government.

Ashley Kelly caused about £14,000 of damage when he crashed through railings in Ballaugh on
5 December 2020.

The 29-year-old admitted driving while under the influence of alcohol, while disqualified and
without insurance."
