Me too but I don't care if other people wear shoes in my house.

When staying at friend's houses in Asia though it is good manners to remove your shoes before entering the house, wearing shoes indoors is considered rather dirty.

I have been told off for going into a laudromat in Malaysia wearing my shoes (didn't understand a word she was saying but I knew I was being told off)

I don’t expect guests to take off their shoes in our house. I’d rather they leave them in.

Re: Taking your shoes off.

In my own house, I wear indoor shoes indoors and outdoor shoes outdoors.

In other people's houses, I look to see if there are shoes at the front door and take them off or leave them on accordingly.

Fun to read about other people's cultures and how they differ.

Yes when we come in from outside, we always take our shoes off in the Porch, wash them over and put them away.

If someone is visiting me, I don't ask them to take off their shoes, unless they are Builders etc. with dirty shoes.

Don't do visiting, can't be doing with such decision making processes.

I always take my shoes off and have a notice in my porch asking visitors to do the same. When visiting, I always ask if the homeowner would prefer me to remove my shoes. I think it's a sign of respect..................though I have had visitors who have absolutely refused to remove their shoes........they're not invited back!

Re: Taking your shoes off.

I prefer visitors to remove shoes in the porch, with new rugs everywhere and new stair carpet. Sis has a pair of slippers kept here. For others, like tradespeople, I ask if they’d prefer over shoe coverings, and sometimes they’ll take their shoes off. I always ask nicely.

Don’t visit many other houses, sis has wooden floors but I still remove mine.

I always take my shoes off when entering someone else's house - it's automatic for me. I never wear shoes in the house and very rarely slippers. In the winter I wear socks indoors. (of course, it's important to keep your feet clean and not smelling ).

Aerolor, you may always have non smellie & clean feet, but if the person who's shoes you want removed has been wearing trainers with no socks all day & has been running or walking a lot, their feet are going to be really smellie, not to mention dirty & if they've been wearing sandals with bare feet they will be dirty.
I'd rather they kept their shoes on, personally.
