my grandson whose two and a half ..loves baking scones when he visits.....last week they turned out like flat stones...the birds needed help ....

Thus solving the mystery of all those birds falling out of the sky!

I read somewhere that some knitting patterns have deliberate mistakes in them, so wouldn't be surprised if recipes were the same.

I have a rule, to always eat my mistakes therefore try not to make any - I too swear by my old Good Housekeeping Cook Book, although I get fed up with converting ozs to gms and f's to c's. I also have an old French cook book that I bought for 50p in as sale, recipes tres bon!

I was very lucky in that my Mother was the best pastry cook in the world and my domestic science mistress was pretty good too - although I did drive her mad well, both of them really

my niece was making a cake ..and told me that if she had put all the liquid in it that it stated...it would have turned out like soup....

I rarely use a book, I make up my own recipes. That is what the best cooks do.
