Brown thingy with a sticky flap was all I could say yesterday as I temporarily forgot the word LOL but enn-velope is the correct way to say it.

I've always called it on-velope. Same as enclave.
Either is acceptable and correct.

I don't know anyone who says "enn." It's always been "onn"velope round here!

It's a bit like "scone" and "sconn" - In my neck of the woods, everyone says "scone" apart from the posh folk who say "sconn" but I've heard people in other areas say the opposite.

It is strange though how different pronunciations become common usage in different areas. I grew up in a very working class council estate which was as "basic" as it got and we all used "scone" and "onvelope" and regarded anyone who said "sconn" as well posh. We didn't have an opinion on "Ennvelope" as no-one ever said it that way.
