Thank you Sweetie, takes a caring person like yourself to see these little things.

I know I'm guilty of rambling on Gummy, can't help it really, but i thought you knew that.
You tell Phyllis anything and I’ll tell the girl from the hardware store the lot, including two timing her with Pug, stick that in your didgeridoo and blow it.
The point was my good man, or more so the question is, can the dead try to communicate with the living when they are stuck in an afterlife no mans land?

Less glamorous than that. That song "They scraped em off the tarmac like a pound of raspberry jam" would be nearer the mark as the turn did not always work and wing wobble took on a whole new meaning

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Jem;what made the difference and brought peace to the fore, was your act.
Forgiveness is NOT a thing that can be bought, sold,or bartered.
YOU gave the forgiveness,YOU lit the candle...so YOU now have the peace.
Your act of kindness in doing so has released HIM,so he can go,can leave.
So-for the price of a candle and a small prayer, all is back to normal.
Well done,Jem. There IS no greater gift, either given by,or received by,any of us,than forgiveness. After all,'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone'. ...but if,rather than throw metaphorical rocks, you can genuinely forgive a person who has 'cocked up'...in many way,you become the Earthly equivalent of a saint....for,after all,if we all were to be honest and tell the truth - who among us has NEVER,not once, taken the 'low road'. Hmm? See? We are mere humans...tall dreams, short lives. Nah...forgive,then move on. The sun rises again tomorrow.

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Pug as interesting as this is I was hesitant in answering as it meant prying a bit into what Jem had been up to on that particular day.

I can see what you are saying from your own point of views on forgiveness or how you would like to be forgiven etc but how do you know that Jems BIL wanted or needed forgiveness. !!!

It could be Jem had just had an odd day and felt he was drowning in things to do...hence the drowning dream

He could be sitting on a burning rock howling with laughter knowing he has scared someone witless enough to fork out for a candle...(The BIL not Jem)

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Solo,I don't need forgiveness-I have never killed anyone that didn't require killing. I don't want or ask anyone's forgiveness for stopping scum killing children,mothers,non-combatant civilian hostages etc. Today, that person is in the distant background. The Pug you think you know and the reality, are FAR different. Whereas Jem has never been violent, never raised a weapon in anger, never been combative either to friend or foe. BUT,this line "he was being pulled out of the Liffey by a burly fireman,I was watching from the Liffey wall as they were putting him into the ambulance" shows that even during the darkest moment,Jem kept a wall,a barrier, between himself and that person. As for the sitting on a burning rock howling with laughter...ok,fair enough....but eternity is a LONG time to keep the laughter going. That rock is going to attract his attention as it starts to burn through his skin...and he'll notice all the other burning rocks all around him...and wish he'd done things a bit differently when he finally sees Jem being escorted to the Heavenly Bar by skimpily clad buxom angels who actually know how to pour a Guinness properly....[after all,our Jem is a bit of an angel,y'know!]

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Thanks Pug for expanding on your dream explanation although I admit to being a bit of a cynic with these in depth explanations that dissect everything these days without giving you a proper answer.

It was always enough for me for to see tea leaves tipped onto a saucer and wait for a sharp intake of breath from a wise all seeing one who would hopefully whisper....well you can guess .

As for... being escorted to the Heavenly Bar by skimpily clad buxom angels who actually know how to pour a Guinness properly, thats probably going to cause Jem a few strange dreams and a few digs in the back from the good wife

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

Thank you for that lovely explanation Pug dear boy, you are a kind man indeed.

Talking about buxom blondes reminds me of the time I was traveling around the country many years ago visiting auction rooms on the hunt for precious stones in old jewellery to convert into modern settings, good money in that back then, I’ll just have to give you the bare bones of it for fear the Gummy fella will get vexed, he hates long posts, he prefers short stumps.
There is no point in this post either it’s just a scribble of a memory brought on by the mention of the word ‘buxom’
Anyway we went into this remote bar way outside Tullamore in county Offaly, a fine lump of a woman of 40 or so was behind the bar sipping vodka and listening to jazz music on a record player. The chap I was with who done all the driving called for two pints and we sat at the bar enjoying the music of Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen. a couple of pints later she asked me up to dance (there were only the three of us in the small bar) I was feeling grand by then and we took the floor, the other chap was gay so he kept refusing to dance when she asked him. she soon had me knackered, when it came to the slow numbers she had a grip like King Kong around me and me head felt like it was caught between two great mountains. We had a few games of darts later and she made us sandwiches and real country chicken soup, she was a widow for six years she told us, her husband had died young from a massive heart attack, a lovely friendly lady who would be in her 80’s now if she’s still alive, I hope she found happiness in the end, God bless ya Margo, I’ve never tasted soup as good as yours nor been squeezed like a lemon since.
