Duvets or Sheets and Blankets?

Some years ago, we were driving on a Saturday morning from Ryde to Ventnor, and listening to John Peel via radio 2. he was complaining that his wife Sheila had thrown out their sheets and blankets and bought a duvet plus extras without a word of warning. He hated it, but she pulled rank.

By pure coincidence, Mrs Dobra had done exactly the same at the same time. A thin one for summer and a thicker one for winter. Hate 'em! Too hot by half, and constantly wrestling to keep the bluddy thing ships-shape during the night. The winter duvet has never been used and I was thinking of giving it to the RSPCA centre for dogs' beds.

Any thoughts folks ?

I love my duvet Dobra.
I'd never go back to sheets and blankets.

I prefer my duvet but like to use a top sheet with it. No, I couldn't get used to sheets and blankets again, either.
Have to say though, lately, I sometimes struggle getting the duvet inside the duvet cover..

Re: Duvets or Sheets and Blankets?

Even as a child I hated blankets, I hate anything knitted or wollen to touch my skin or get anywhere near me.. Wool belongs on sheep as far as Im concerned.

The moment I left home I bought a duvet and I would never go back.
I bought a new 4 seasons one last week.

I think I've said it before but I have a feather duvet and pillows...it's like going to bed in a nest... bliss!
And I can stick my feet out to act as coolers when necessary too!

Having said that...
I really don't mind sleeping between the crisp, white, cotton sheets of an expensive hotel bed

Re: Duvets or Sheets and Blankets?

Thanks duvet lovers. For those wrestling with a duvet cover (like Mrs D). Here is the solution.

Lay the cover on the bed, slit facing you. Roll up the duvet like a Swiss roll. Offer the roll to the slit and gently unroll it inside. Two minutes flat and grin on face.

Off you go to practice.......
