A simple question.
Which is more important?
We are in lockdown, Hospital Cancer Appointments cancelled.
A lack of PPE and Social Distancing in Hospitals.
Our Vets are still open.
Where is the logic in that?
They are using PPE and spreading the infection
Denying our Nurses and Doctors the protection they need
Shut the Vets down and open the Dentists and Outpatients.
I don't know where you get this info Swimmy, but it isn't like that here.
Cancer hospitals are having problems trying to get the patients to attend, for fear of catching the virus, and the same applies to patients with other serious health problems.
On 2 occasions since Easter my vet has dispensed medication to one of my cats, who is sick, and they do it by phone appointments, just as doctors do with humans. Where they feel that case is urgent and they need to see the animals, you are asked to take your pet to the vet & they take the pet into the surgery, but the owner is not allowed to go in with it......so they are not spreading the infection!
If hospitals don't have sufficient PPE that is the fault of the NHS, not veterinary practices.
Nobody is having an easy time over this infection & the professional people are doing their best to save lives.... that includes humans & animals, but it won't speed up human operations, that aren't considered life threatening, by stopping vets from doing their job.
My vets have told me they are using face masks, just like other people are, but they don't have PPE, just sensible rules!
