Re: food poisoning

I know that mayo is made using raw egg yolks and oil, but was under the impression (and a quick google of recipes confirms) that salad cream uses either the yolks from boiled eggs, or alternatively cooks the egg vinegar etc mix. However could have been the actual tuna.

Re: food poisoning

I got food poisoning a few years ago from tinned tuna, read somewhere recently all commercial mayo has something done to the eggs and it's impossible to get salmonella (is that the same as food poisoning??) so presume Salad cream is the same.

Re: food poisoning

I had food poisoning many years ago, and I suspected a scotch egg to be the culprit.

Then a few years back I undercooked some fish. Both episodes left me feeling wretched, being hospitalised the last time. Overnight on a drip and oxygen. Poor mum drove from her home to stay overnight sitting in a chair beside me.

Tonight I cooked some bacon taken from the freezer but it smelt funny, so all went in the bin. The cooked and remainder of the packet! I don't think my mind or body could take another bout of FP ever again!!!

Hope you both feel better soon.

The salad cream may have been within its eat by date, but had it already been opened - some products say eat within so many days of opening, I wouldn't keep salad cream or mayonnaise hanging around for long. I hope that it was an isolated incident, and that you can enjoy your food as normal in future.
