Aortic aneurysm

I've just been for an ultrasound scan to check for aortic aneurysm. Not that I have one; an aneurysm that is. I do have an aorta thankfully.

Until I received a letter a couple of weeks ago, I didn't know that they do routine scans for this. Apparently it is limited to males (because women don't tend to get them as much) of 65 or over.

Actually, I should complain as I'm not 65 until August, but I think I'll let them off under the circumstances.

If there is no sign of aneurysm, you don't get called back again in subsequent years.

If there is any enlargement, however, they may do so to keep an eye on things.

So the good news is that I'm not going to die. Yay!

Well, not just yet I hope.

Re: Aortic aneurysm

Thank you both for your kind words. To be honest, I didn't think for a minute that I had an aneurysm as there is no history of it in my family.

Actually, I have to say that this has really set me up and I feel that I'm going to live for ev
