In fact I don’t feel shame!..,,ever,!..in the past 30 years.
Oh come on - it was just a figure of speech.

I'm sure you must have been ashamed of yourself at some point in time Pauline surely?

Pauline can and no doubt will speak for herself but personally just as I have never once been embarrassed I have never felt shame. Seriously.

Re: To my shame...

My daughter works in our local M&S food outlet and occasionally witnesses shoplifters (or indeed has other customers tell her they've seen a shoplifter). She reports it to her supervisor/manager (as per instructions for her not to take action), and they'll deal with it if at all possible.

Most of the time the shoplifters get away with it.

I have felt both many ,many years ago...both were wrong to feel, but I was made to feel those emotions, growing up.

I have never felt shame for at least 30 yrs.

Embarrassment is nothing like it used to be..

Just explaining.

Sorry, back to topic.

Indeed, when my son was studying, he worked part time at Tesco..saw it a lot..( shoplifting)followed by what your daughter does.

Well that's true.

When we had our shop a young chap ran of with some goods stuffed up his jumper.

We reported it to the police but they didn't do anything.

Re: To my shame...

My guess is that many shops allow for natural wastage anyway (shelf life etc), and put shoplifting losses into that category.

Re: To my shame...

I would have left it alone. Not my business. I tried to get involved once and nearly got beat up for it. Never again Its on them, I'm afraid, nothing to do with me, didn't see a thing.
