No..I don't want them but they appear if I take my curser too close to the right hand side of the screen....I think they are called 'charms' but they are not charming me right now as they keep getting in the way.

You can probably disable that Pats .... Finding out how on this PC is a task though .....

I will disable it alright if it doesn't behave!

The only good thing is that I get a large notification that it is Sat 1st march and the current time.

True and then you left click to get rid of it ..... its not so bad really .....
