Re: I've had my chest x-ray

Hi Ffosse i was thinking of John Lewis as they are very good at quick delivery. Hope it works out with the clothes.

Try to eat a little. The antibiotics can suppress the appetite but your body still needs some nutrients. They do tend to make food taste funny though.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

The Consultant was very vague as he doesn't have a clue what's wrong with me.

He's chnging up the antibiotics because there's nothing much left ha can do.

How are you feeling tonight Ffosse? Do you still have a fever? Have you managed to eat something?

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

My temperature spikes every afternoon, indicating that I have an infection, yet they can't tell what that infection is.

I feel that I'll never be able to go home until they either diagnose the infection or it runs it's natural course. It's very depressing, not being able to go home whilst all this is going on. And I have to remember that I have cancer on top of all this. Their anti infection drugs have been worthless so far. Yet if I was to go home I'd soon have another 39.5 fever and wouldn't be able to do anything.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

Hi Ffosse. Ive been away from the forum for a while so not up to date with things. I hope you manage to fight off this infection. It must be very miserable for you on top of the cancer.
All the best from me.

Thanks - my temperature has gone back down to 36.7 which is normal, but I expect it to spike again tomorrow meaning no chance of my going home.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

That sounds strange, with an infection it doesn't usually go up and down. The hypothalamus in the brain controls body temperature. Perhaps your treatment or condition has affected it.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

Maybe, but mine spiked at 38.8 this morning again and they've put me on more antibiotics...I really feel dreadful today, no banter with the hospital staff, I feel exhausted and quite ill.

Re: I've had my chest x-ray

As I write this is gone back down to 37.6

But these are dangerously high levels of blood temperature to be playing about with.
