I think slug and snail eggs are white if that helps.
Try squishing them, if they're hard they're most likely fertiliser.

Hi Tessa
I have squished a few, they're liquid inside, so probably slug eggs then.
This is a reputable potting compost,so disappointed if that's the case.

Write to them on Facebook, that usually gets a quick response, they may give you a refund if they can't explain what they are.

It might be that stuff that absorbs water, I can't remember it's name.

Think I'd just ring up their customer services or sales dept and ask before you I used any more.

Re: what's in my compost

Could the 'yellow balls' possibly be fertilizer which has been added to the compost?

Have you tried reading the info on the bag? It often tells you how its made up. My money is on a slow release fertiliser.

Would that be vermiculite? Anyway, I see no picture so can't comment on what it could be.

Nah, vermiculite isn't little round balls is it, it's like tiny minute chippings and flakes more than balls. Also it wouldn't squash full of liquid - mine never has anyway.

Could be fertiliser, but snail eggs look the same as cinnamon girl is describing too.
