A bit of classical music

Starts quietly and builds up. Worth listening right to the end:

Re: A bit of classical music

It certainly does, very dramatic with the chorus and soloists and huge orchestra.
Thanks for posting.

It's said to be the symphony of 1000. Not sure if that is so but there are certainly many musicians and choristers there.

Very nice but Mahler isnt one of my favorites.. Often too heavy and depressing.

Re: A bit of classical music

He is definitely one of mine - I absolutely love Mahler - especially this particular piece. His setting of Goethe's words is extraordinary and the words themselves, "Alles Vergangliche ist nur ein gleichnis" (All that is transient is but an illusion) is a good lesson for those of us who get het up about the everyday. I am 100% non-religious, but if anything could convert me it would be this piece of music.
