Re: What’s New in Windows 10’s October 2018 Update

Using Windows 10’s New Clipboard: History and Cloud Sync

https://www.howtogeek.com/351978/usi...nd-cloud-sync/

You can now access a history of items you’ve copied to your clipboard, pin frequently used items, and sync your clipboard across your PCs.
I've just enabled this facility, which may (or may not) come in useful .....

IIRC, an earlier version of Windows clipboard had the facility for retaining recently copied objects, but I can't remember which one .....

Using Windows 10’s New Clipboard: History and Cloud Sync

If you choose to enable this feature, be aware of the potential security risks.

  • If you're one of those that usually copy sensitive information (such as passwords, addresses, names, etc.), anything you copy to the clipboard will store in plain text, and anyone with access to your computer will now be able to see this information by just using the Windows key + V shortcut.
  • In addition, if you enable the sync option, you'll also be uploading your history to the Microsoft servers.

Since I can live without it, I've disabled the facility.

Same here. I found a Clipboard extender (a utility that stores copied files and text) was handy when I was writing a web site but it was one that stored clips on the computer only. If I needed a Clipboard extender again, I'd use something similar rather than store copied files/information in the Cloud.

There are a number of third-party Clipboard extenders/managers available.

Not something I'd want to use, in fact as many here know I am no fan of Microsoft!

Actually, though, I do use One Drive. Hopefully, that is not as potentially dangerous with regard to security.

The NEW OneDrive does have some major changes regarding what's ON and what's OFF LINE.
