My brother is slowly getting there, I printed him some basic instructions, for getting started and setting up his e-mail account, so at least he can send me a message, it was like a comedy of errors the other night with me on my tower comp, my brother on his Ipad, and conversing by land-line phone, both of us on loudspeaker. He goes down to his daughters tomorrow at Burton on Trent so he is taking it with him, so she can help him a bit more, but I dont think the Ipad is easier than a laptop or tower comp, I haven't ever found mine to be hard work, whereas I struggle with the Ipad.

Hi Dandysmom, my brother is slowly improving, he has now mastered e-mails, but to be really honest, even I am not happy with the IPads, I find them very off putting, to my mind they are too small, and very restricting, maybe a laptop would have been easier for him, but we will see what time does and thanks for the enquiry.
