Re: Ignorant Johnson opens his gob & puts foot in it.
Hi
We voted to leave.
The EU are under no obligation at all to give us a deal.
We will, in March 2019, become a competitor of the EU.
That is what we voted for.
Our negotiating stance has been, from the very start, no deal is better than a bad deal, if we do not get what we want, we will walk.
The EU is merely saying, OK then,if that is what you want, this is what we are prepared to offer, take it or leave it.
There is absolutely no advantage to the EU in giving the UK any kind of deal at all.
What they lose in Tariffs, they will more than make up from Services, which form 60% of our Exports and which they can simply insist only be provided by EU based Companies.
This perfectly legal, it is WTO Rules.
If we do go down Boris's Free Trade route and reduce WTO Tariffs, we cannot reduce them for other Countries and charge the EU, the rules are absolutely specific on that point, we have to follow the most favoured nation rule.
We will be stuck with that until we get specific Free Trade Agreements with individual countries.
That will take some years to achieve.
Liam Fox, the Minister in charge of that, has stated that we do not have have enough Trade Negotiators to start this process.
More than a year since the Referendum our Government have achieved diddly squat and are no going with begging bowl in hand asking for a two year extension.
I find this appalling.
