I don't know how much your monthly fee comes to, but it might be worth your while to buy an Amazon Fire Stick for £40. That's a one-off payment.
There's nothing more to pay unless, like us, you want to pay for Amazon Prime which provides access to all the Amazon films plus, of course, free delivery if you buy items through Amazon. I believe most other things (like My5) are free, though Netflix requires an extra charge.
Of course, we don't watch any live TV or any BBC catch-up things, so there's no TV licence to pay (£160 a year).
Your TV must have an HDMI socket, but all modern ones do.
It's your choice of what sort of things you like to watch, of course, but there's nothing stopping you from investigating what's available on the various options available these days.
I believe some people even like to watch the BBC!

When my daughter lived here, she had an Amazon firestick but it wasn’t compatible with all of my televisions.
