Post your weathervanes here

I was up in the City this morning, was there yesterday too, doing a bit of architecture photography. Today I took a longer lens to snap a couple of old weathervanes. Thought I'd start an open thread inviting people to post their weathervane photos.

I didn't zoom in or crop too much because I want to show surrounding old and new contrasting architecture.

Bishopsgate, don't know the names of any of the buildings there.

Cornhill, showing the walkytalky and the cheesegrater.

That's really strange, because I've got a rusty old weathervane in my front garden, just stuck into the soil, been there in the same position for years, and just today, not two hours ago. I moved it to a different position!

Whooooooooo!

Is the Bishopsgate one a squirrel?

Just googled it ...

The Beaufort Beaver (60-64 Bishopsgate)
The Beaver sits atop this tower on Bishopsgate as a reminder of the Hudson Bay Company who were the purveyors of furs since 1668.

Re: Post your weathervanes here

I passed St Mary-le-Bow this morning and it's currently got scaffolding but I will keep an eye out for the dragon.

St Mary-le-Bow (Cheapside)
This nine foot-long winged dragon was built by Robert Bird in 1674 and sits high above Cheapside.
I'm interested in getting shots of old and new architecture together as much as weathervanes.

Well, you have really succeeded! They are a beautiful juxtaposition of old and new! Very effective!

Only in the City, eh?
