To me I suppose I think of taking a photo is representative of what the eye sees and reproducing it .

Unless of course you have terrible eye sight

To me a digital camera is an image maker, it can capture the invisible, it can make the visible every day mundane look outstanding.

I'm with you on this, not that I ever experiment much these days - but years ago I used to when it was my hobby (and erstwhile job) these things can be great fun.

I think they are great, especially when used as a background. Of course, a lot of that can be done by image manipulation these days too.
