Yes, I remember them. We used to call them 'cakes' in Bradford, though I think there official name was fish cakes.

Being poor we couldn't afford fish and chips and had to ask for 'a cake and chips please'.

The European Commission on Wednesday urged France and Britain to find an "amicable" solution, but insisted it could not get involved because arrangements for trawling were made between individual countries.

Convenient cop-out for them.
