50 Armed Guards for 6 Rhinos.

Just watching Ms Lumley's postcards from Africa.

She visited a rhino sanctuary where 50 heavily armed guards are employed to protect just 6 rhinos....such is the poaching problem.

It's good to see them getting the protection they so obviously need.

Same goes for the poor elephants.

100 yrs ago, there were approx. 200,000 today only 25,000 in the whole of Africa.
The wildlife in Africa is in such a bad place, and the world is not listening.

I so wish more people would get engaged with this devastating reality. The only animals left will be those in sanctuaries, which will never return to the wild in our lifetime.

This is another terrible atrocity from 2 weeks ago. It's broken my heart, and many more besides, as having been a follower of the rescue and rehoming of the 33 lions, they were all known to us as individuals , it's as if we've lost a family member in the cruellest and most barbaric of ways.

Plus, we have Donald Trumps sons, who proudly display their 'successes' when they go trophy hunting.

There are some wonderful people trying to help but they need so much more support.

Old boys who made friends ,Jose and Liso. They got 12 months together of peace after suffering from brain damage due to beatings over the heads . It wasn't long enough !

Some areas they cut off horns etc to prevent them being a target, such a shame to render them less than they are just to stop people killing them. We really are the worst species on the planet !

I is terrible the way our wild animals are declining,we wont have any left soon.Trouble is with the expanding population of people in their areas they are being squeezed out of their habitat,also those living side by side of these animals fear them ,so kill rather than risk being killed, we need to find a happy medium,more sfae areas,less hunting
