Once again you're absolutely right. The change to the police service from being a police force and the redefinition of its role IMO was when the rot set in.

They are ok with soft targets .
Ie the law abiding who have transgressed .
Anything that is remotely un PC they won’t touch .
Eg Travellers camps .

Re: Where were the cops??

The police were there, they took the decision not to intervene as doing so would have caused further disorder.

The statue will be retrieved from the harbour and may be relocated at the city museum.

Marvin Rees, Bristol's Mayor said ....

Mr Rees described the protest as a "well-managed occasion by police and council officers".

"There was a very large number of people but very few arrests. Only one piece of criminal damage and that was at the statue, people didn't go around smashing shop fronts or verbal confrontations," he said.

How do they come to that conclusion Mags?
If the police had a cordon around the statue beforehand the
protesters would probably not done what theydid even though they
had come prepared?
Its surprising what the effect of a few well prepared well organised
determined looking men can have on a largely disorganised
untrained yoof? Especially if they are backed up by a troop of
mounted men to use as bulldozers where neded!!
I am beginning to think that the real statue is allready in a museum?

This whole thing has moved on beyond protest. It's now perilously close to civil war. The open issue is who is fighting against us and what are their war aims.
If you open your ears instead of your mouth, you just might hear their aims.

Blame Mrs May, for some of the most radical reforms.
