Garden Waste

As from April 1st Flintshire CC are charging £30 per annum to empty our brown garden waste bins. Today was the first collection since the charge was introduced. I have paid the fee, but am not a happy bunny as the council tax has also gone up very significantly. I noticed that very few brown bins had been put out this morning, so I assume people are not prepared to pay to have their waste removed. I wonder where they are going to dump it?

Re: Garden Waste

ours would be £48 per year but I won't be paying it. Rather take it to the tip when passing.

Re: Garden Waste

It is £68 per year here for garden waste.
I don't pay but take the waste to the recycling tip 5 miles away myself in the car.

It is a struggle getting up the steep steps of the skip with bags of waste but if people are able they should try to help themselves and not expect everything to be done for them.

Re: Garden Waste

£50 here they want. I'm not paying that, as Tara said, the council tax has already increased.

I will be putting mine where it always used to go before the recycling bins and that's into the landfill bin.

If there is a lot of green stuff to dispose of I will take it over the road to the Nature Reserve where they have a massive "green" bin and a compost heap.

Otherwise it's a 16 mile drive to the tip .( which has just sent us a leaflet saying all must take ID to the tip from now on )

Re: Garden Waste

Forgive my ignorance, I'm not a gardener but doesn't garden waste go into a composting heap or bin to be mulched down and used again as compost etc.
